Employee Profile:  Ashli Barefoot, Code Enforcement Officer

Ashli Barefoot recently joined the Town of Leland as a Code Enforcement Officer.

Ashli is originally from the Johnston County, N.C. town of Clayton.  She moved to the Wilmington area about six years ago to pursue her undergraduate degree at UNCW.

"As I entered into my second year of graduate school, I realized that I couldn’t see myself living anywhere else and decided to make the Cape Fear region my home," says Ashli.

Ashli also says, "In my spare time, I like to shop – a lot. :-) - and go offshore fishing. If its warm out and I'm not at work, you can find me out on the boat."

Ashli completed degrees in Criminal Justice and Political Science from UNCW in 2006.  She continued her education at UNCW, completing a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) with concentrations in Urban and Regional Planning and Policy as well as Public Policy Analysis in 2008.  Ashli also completed an internship with the New Hanover County Planning Department in 2007-08.

As code enforcement officer, Ashli is part of the Town of Leland's Development Services Department.  The department is responsible for setting a positive direction for sustainable growth throughout the Town.  The department provides mechanisms to create livable communities while effectively managing development.  The code enforcement function pro-actively administers a fair and unbiased effort to correct violations of the Town of Leland’s Code of Ordinances and land use requirements.

The Town of Leland's Code Enforcement officer is dedicated to protecting and promoting public health, safety and welfare, while ensuring every citizen the right to a clean, livable community.  Additionally, the Code Enforcement officer serves as both an educator and a valuable resource to ensure a healthy, safe environment.
