Announcements:


A Walk on the Wild Side
This month we partner with Wild Bird and Garden to host a FREE Wild Bird Walk on Thursday, November 15 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Brunswick Nature Park. This is a great opportunity to get out in nature and learn about the different species of birds in our area. See below for details.

Healthy Living Leland
On Tuesday, November 13 we will roll out our new Healthy Living Leland program with a cooking demonstration and meal. Come learn how to make a delicious winter soup and how you can prepare yourself for the coming holiday stress! This new program, offered in conjunction with NC Cooperative Extension, is packed with great information, food and prizes. See below for details.

Town offers CPR Certification Class
The Town of Leland is partnering with Leland Fire and Rescue to offer a CPR Certification class December 5 (the November class is sold out). Come learn how to save a life. See below for details. 

Extreme Cross Training at a Reduced Rate
Our Extreme Cross Training class is still taking accepting participants. See below for more information on this exciting offering.

Upcoming Programs and Events:


Leland Bird Walk
  • What: Leland Parks and Recreation has partnered with Wild Bird and Garden to host a Wild Bird Walk. This is a great opportunity to get out in nature and learn about the different species of birds in our area. The experts from Wild Bird and Garden will be there as your guides. Bring your water bottle, binoculars and bug spray.  
  • Where: Brunswick Nature Park (2601 River Road Southeast (Hwy 133)). Meet at the picnic shelter.
  • When:  Thursday, November 15 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Fee: FREE! To register call 910-332-4823 or e-mail aryan@townofleland.com.  Space is limited; call now to reserve your spot.

Healthy Living Leland
  • What: Our own health can easily escape our attention during the busy times in our lives. Being healthy, active and taking care of ourselves can help us enjoy a higher quality of life. Join us each month as we learn how to make nutritious and delicious meals and get active. Each month will have a different health-related topic and tons of great information, food and prizes. 
  • Where: Leland Classroom Annex (102 Town Hall Dr.)
  • When:  The second Tuesday of each month 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (November 13 is the first meeting, where we will learn to make winter soup)
  • Fee: FREE! To register call 910-332-4823 or e-mail aryan@townofleland.com.  Space is limited; call now to reserve your spot.

CPR Certification Class
  • What: Leland Parks and Recreation has partnered with Leland Fire and Rescue to provide the public with CPR Certification Classes.  This class will cover CPR training along with first aid.  
  • Where: Leland Fire and Rescue, 1004 Village Rd.
  • When:  Wednesday, December 5, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Fee: $20. This includes the course book and certification card.  To register call 910-332-4823.  Class space is limited; call now to reserve your spot.

Extreme Cross Training
  • What: Rev up your metabolism with a challenging full body workout combining cardio bursts, athletic drills and strength training exercises.  Designed for exercisers who already have a core strength in place and are ready to take their fitness to the next level. Please bring water, an exercise mat and a towel.
  • Where: Leland Recreation Building, 102 Town Hall Dr.
  • When:  Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m.  Pre-registration is required.
  • Fee: Rate is $47.50 for 4-week program (Less than $6 per class!).  Contact Amy Ryan at (910) 332-4823 to register or for more information. 

Ongoing Programs: 

Our ongoing recreation programs include: Leland's Little Learners, Garden Club, Scrapbooking, Line Dancing, Hooks and Needles, Expressive Art and Leland Hometown Opry (Sam Miller Jam). For more information on these programs, please click here.

Connecting Northern Brunswick County
The Town of Leland is partnering with our neighbors in northern Brunswick County to develop a plan to improve transportation in the area. Please take a moment to review the plans and provide your comments on their brief survey located at www.connectingnbc.com.
