Countywide Burning Ban

Lifted as of Sept. 21

September 21, 2007 - 4:00 p.m.

Due to the recent rainfall that Brunswick County has received and the forecast of additional rain over the next several days the Brunswick County Fire Marshal’s Office is cautiously lifting the burning ban that was in effect.  Brunswick County Fire Marshal Scott Garner would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens that according to North Carolina air quality laws, only unprocessed yard debris may be legally burned.  Mr. Garner would also like to remind citizens that any outdoor burning that occurs more than 100 feet from a dwelling requires a burning permit from the North Carolina Forestry Service.  Information on where to get a burning permit may be obtained by calling the Brunswick County Fire Marshal’s Office at 253-4376 or the North Carolina Forestry Brunswick Office at 755-7772.
