Leland Coordinating “N.C. Big Sweep” September 28, 2007 LELAND, N.C. -- The Town of Leland’s Storm Water Management Department is seeking volunteers to assist with the town’s annual N.C. Big Sweep roadside cleanup on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007. “The Leland area’s natural beauty is one of the many things that make our town a great place to live,” says Steven Spruill, Storm Water Manager for the Town of Leland. “The Big Sweep cleanup provides citizens with an opportunity to do their part to keep Leland’s streets and waterways clean.” N.C. Big Sweep is an annual statewide litter cleanup of local waterways and roadways. Individuals and groups are welcome to participate. Bags, Gloves, and safety vests will be provided. Just wear long pants and boots (or shoes). Waterproof boots are highly recommended. Last year 259 tons of litter was collected statewide during NC Big Sweep by 233,629 volunteers.
