Town of Leland names Corporal Sherry Lewis Employee of the Quarter
LELAND, NC – Corporal Sherry Lewis of the Leland Police Department recently received the Town of Leland’s Employee of the Quarter Award for the second quarter of 2007. The award is part of the town’s recently-launched Employee Recognition Program. Corporal Lewis, who serves as the town’s DARE officer, received the award in recognition for her innovation in launching and managing the town’s DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.
“Corporal Sherry Lewis has demonstrated her commitment to improving our community by building a strong DARE program at Leland Middle School,” said Leland Mayor Walter Futch. “We are pleased to recognize her hard work, innovation and commitment to excellence with our Employee of the Quarter Award.”
“Corporal Lewis is more than deserving of this honor,” says Leland Police Chief Osey Sanders. “Our DARE program has had such great success here in the Leland area that it is being considered as a model by the Brunswick County School Board for other schools in the county. We are excited that the Town has chosen to recognize Corporal Lewis’ professionalism and commitment with this award.”
The Town of Leland’s Employee Recognition Program is designed to acknowledge and express appreciation for outstanding accomplishments made by town employees. Nominations are made by Leland residents and town employees and are then reviewed by the recognition committee. After closely analyzing the nominees, the committee votes and decides on an honoree.
