Town of Leland Accepts Donation of Land for New Fire Department Substation October 31, 2005 LELAND – The Town of Leland has accepted a donation of land for a new Fire Department substation. The 1.5 acre tract, which is located on Highway 133 South, was donated by HWW, LLC, the developers of the Westport Community. The new Fire Department substation will include a small office for the Leland Police Department. “We are thankful that the developers of Westport saw fit to donate the land for our new Fire Department substation,” says Leland Town Manager David Hewett. “We appreciate the steps that they and other members of our growing business community are taking to ensure that Leland continues to be a nice place to live, work and raise a family.” “We are fortunate that more and more people are choosing to call Leland home,” Hewett adds. “Leland’s growth is inevitable -- the challenge lies in how we handle this growth. The Town of Leland’s professional staff is committed to do what is necessary to ensure that Leland’s our community’s growth is a positive thing.
