Town of Leland names
Melody Jennings Planning Director

LELAND – Melody Jennings has joined the Town of Leland as its new Planning Director.  Jennings previously served as a planner with the City of Jacksonville, N.C. 

“We are excited to have Melody Jennings as our new planning director,” says Leland Town Manager Bill Farris.  “Her extensive experience and education will be instrumental in our efforts to ensure that Leland retains its small-town character and quality of life in the midst of our unprecedented growth.”

Melody Jennings earned a Bachelor of Science from Judson College in Marion, AL.  She also holds a Master of Science in Management from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C.  She served as a planner with the City of Jacksonville, N.C. prior to joining the Town of Leland.  Jennings previously worked for Spartanburg County, S.C. for ten years as a planner.  She is a member of the American Planning Association, N.C. Zoning Association, Society for Human Resources and the Association of State Floodplain Managers.  Jennings is a former member of the United States Marine Corps.
