Town of Leland Public Service Announcement:

Mosquito Control Program

Posted July 13, 2005

Due to the heavy rains we have recently experienced, you may have noticed an increase in the number of mosquitoes when you step outside.  The Town of Leland has a Mosquito Control program which divides the Town into two areas (routes):

Route #1:  Village Road, from the entrance coming into Leland from 74/76, to Lanvale Road and all side streets in that area that are in the Town limits.

Route #2:  Old Fayetteville Road, from Carolina Avenue to Lanvale Road, and all side streets in that area that are in the Town limits (including Lanvale Trace and the Magnolia Greens subdivision).

Spraying Schedule

Weather permitting, the Town sprays Route #1 on Tuesdays and Route #2 on Wednesdays (typically during the late afternoon hours). If bad weather prevents us from spraying, we spray the next possible day.

How You Can Help

The rainy season is already here, and we need your help to decrease the number of mosquitoes in our community.  Please look for water standing in pots, buckets, old tires, etc. around the yard and make sure they are empty. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in standing water, thus standing water can increase the number of mosquitoes we have to deal with.
