LELAND – The Town of Leland is participating in the 23rd Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1.  National Night Out is an annual event designed to strengthen neighborhoods by forging solid partnerships between the police and members of the community.  Over 10,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities and military bases around the world will participate in National Night Out.

Leland’s National Night Out event will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the picnic area behind Town Hall.  Brian White from Lite 98.7 FM will be broadcasting live, and the event will include children’s activities and prizes.  Food and beverage vendors will also be on site.

“The Town of Leland is proud to be part of the 23rd Annual National Night Out,” says Police Chief Osey Sanders.  “Our Police Department and town staff are committed to ensuring that Leland continues to be a safe, friendly place to live, and this event provides us with an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with those we are here to serve.”

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, build support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and send a message to criminals that our neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.  For more information, visit www.nationalnightout.org
