August 7, 2007

LELAND, NC – The Town of Leland’s new Vegetative Yard Debris and Recycling Center is now open for drop offs.  The center is located at the end of Perry Avenue, adjacent to Town Hall Drive.

“Our new yard debris & recycling center is a key component of our efforts to keep our community clean and protect our environment,” says Landon Barker, Executive Assistant for the Town of Leland and head of the town’s Parks and Recreation Department.  “This center provides citizens with an easy, convenient way to do their part by recycling and properly disposing of yard debris.”

The Recycling Center, which complements twelve existing sites operated by Brunswick County, is open seven days a week.  The recycling center accepts the following items: glass, plastic containers numbers 1 and 2, aluminum cans, steel cans, newspapers, mixed paper, magazines and junk mail.

The Vegetative Yard Debris drop-off is open every Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., except on holidays. Limbs must be no larger than four inches in diameter and no longer than four feet. No construction debris is allowed in the containers.
