Operation Santa Cop:  Leland Police and Fire Departments Play Ball to Play Santa

LELAND, N.C. - The Leland Police Department is coordinating its second annual Operation Santa Cop toy drive to provide toys to needy Leland-area children during the upcoming holiday season. 

 

The Leland Police Department will face off against the Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department in the second annual Santa Cop softball game on Sunday, Oct. 28.  The game will begin at 2 p.m. on Field 2 of the Northwest Ball Field on Highway 74/76, near the Leland Industrial Park.  The cost of admission is one new, unwrapped toy with a value of $5 or more.  The event is open to the public. 

 

The toy drive will continue until the middle of December at various locations throughout the Leland area, including the Leland Town Hall, Leland Volunteer Fire Department, Magnolia Greens Clubhouse, Waterford Clubhouse, Wal-Mart and Cross Creek Commons.

 

The toys will be distributed to the Leland area’s needy children at a Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Leland Town Hall.  Volunteers are needed for various areas such as registration, toy collection, refreshment, scorekeeping and photography.  For more information or to volunteer please contact Corporal Robert Ernest at rernest@townofleland.com or Landon Barker at lbarker@townofleland.com
