Leland Police and Fire Departments’ softball tournament to benefit Operation Santa Cop November 15, 2006
LELAND – Bring your game faces and holiday spirits, Town of Leland. The Leland Police and Fire Departments will face off this Saturday, Nov. 18 in a charity softball game to benefit Operation Santa Cop.
The cost of admission to the game, which is open to the general public, is one new, unwrapped toy valued at $5 or more per person. The toys will be distributed to needy children in the Leland community to give them a Christmas to remember.
“We want to ensure that every child in the Leland community has a special Christmas, regardless of their family situation,” said Police Chief Osey Sanders. “With the community’s support of Operation Santa Cop, we can make that goal a reality.”
The game will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Northwest Ball Field (Field #2) off of Highway 74/76. The field is located opposite the Leland Campus of Brunswick Community College. In addition to a fun afternoon of softball, spectators will receive food and drinks.
