Brunswick County Spring Clean-Up Set for April 16-21
The Town of Leland encourages citizens to participate in Brunswick County's 2007 Spring Clean-Up. The Spring Clean-Up is co-sponsored by the Brunswick County Solid Waste Department, the N.C. Department of Transportation and Brunswick County Keep America Beautiful. Details on the week's activities are below.
FREE DISPOSAL AT LANDFILL: Brunswick County’s Spring Clean Up week is Monday April 16 through Saturday April 21, 2007. During this week, Brunswick County residents can dispose of all materials, except regular household trash, for free. The free disposal applies to materials brought to the landfill in Bolivia only; items will not be picked up with your regular trash service. The four convenient sites will maintain regular fees during this time. Landfill hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm.
FREE MULCH: Brunswick County is giving mulch to county residents at no charge; businesses can get mulch for a small fee. Mulch will not be delivered, but will be loaded at the landfill in Bolivia only. Landfill hours are Monday through Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm.
Litter Sweep The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Annual “LITTER SWEEP” Spring Roadside Clean Up will take place Monday April 16 through Sunday April 21, 2007. Governor Easley has issued a proclamation claiming April as “LITTER SWEEP” time across North Carolina, and urges all citizens to participate in keeping our roadsides clean. Brunswick County employees will be participating in “Litter Sweep” by dividing all departments into teams and cleaning several roads throughout the County. Brunswick County will also participate in “LITTER SWEEP” by waiving tipping fees at the landfill in Bolivia for anyone bringing in DOT bags from a roadside clean up during this time. To participate in “LITTER SWEEP” contact the local DOT office at (910) 754-4540 and register which road you would like to clean. DOT will also provide gloves, safety vests, and trash bags for individuals or groups who wish to participate. Thank you in advance for helping to keep Brunswick County Beautiful.
Great American Clean Up Call for all community organizations and volunteers. Keep Brunswick County Beautiful wants to help your organization participate in the Great American Clean Up. We can provide drop cloths for groups wanting to paint, re-paint, or paint over graffiti on public or community structures. We can provide mulch film and mulch to groups wanting to perform beautification projects at public or community locations. We can also provide trash bags and gloves to those groups wanting to clean up a public or community location. These activities will be ongoing throughout April and May. Please call the Solid Waste Department at (910) 253-2520 for further information. ONE-DAY ONLY EVENTS! HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION: Saturday April 21, 2007 from 9 AM until 2 PM Brunswick County will collect Household Hazardous Waste at the Wal-Mart in Shallotte on Saturday April 21, 2007 from 9 AM until 2 PM.
