Town of Leland’s 2007 Founders’ Day Celebration Features Amateur Talent Show

LELAND, NC – The Town of Leland’s 2007 Founders’ Day Celebration, set for Saturday, Sept. 8, will feature an amateur talent show.  The talent show, which runs from 10:20 a.m. until 12:20 p.m., will feature three categories of competition based on age: pre-teen to 12 years old, 13-18 years old and an open group/19 years old and over.  Auditions for the 2007 Founder’s Day Talent Show will be held Saturday, August 25 in the Leland Multipurpose Building (behind Town Hall) starting at noon and will go until all who would like to audition have done so.  An entertainment committee will select and announce the final 15 participants the afternoon of the auditions. 

Prizes will be awarded to the top three performers in each age category on the day of the show.  Prizes for the top three performers in the Pre-Teen and Teen categories include a $500 U.S. Savings Bond and first place trophy for each first place, a $100 U.S. Savings Bond and plaque for each second runner-up and a $25 gift certificate for each third runner-up.  For the open division, first place will receive a $250 gift certificate and a first place trophy, second runner-up will receive a $100 gift certificate and a plaque and third runner-up will receive a $50 gift certificate and a plaque. 

Entry forms must be submitted by August 22 to either John Crowder or Landon Barker.  Forms are available online at www.townofleland.com or at Town Hall.  Entries can either be mailed to: Town of Leland – Talent Show Application, 102 Town Hall Drive, Leland, NC 28451 or submitted electronically to John Crowder at johncrowder@earthlink.net or Landon Barker lbarker@townofleland.com.  After submitting an application, applicants will be called and given a schedule of audition times.
