LELAND – The Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department will break ground on a new substation this Friday, February 16 at 10:00 a.m.  The official groundbreaking will take place at the future site of the new station, located on Highway 133 just south of the entrance to the Westport subdivision.  After the groundbreaking, local officials will be available at the Westport Clubhouse to answer citizens’ questions.

“As our town grows, it is imperative that we develop the infrastructure needed to keep up with the increasing demand for services,” says Town Manager Bill Farris.  “The Leland Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department’s new Westport sub-station is a key component of our ongoing efforts to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to managing Leland’s growth.”

“Our new Westport sub-station will greatly improve our ability to provide fire and rescue services to some of our town’s fastest-growing areas,” adds John Grimes, Chief of Fire & Emergency Services with the Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department.
