Town seeks applicants for newly formed Stormwater Advisory Committee

 

The Town of Leland is seeking qualified applicants for membership on the newly formed Stormwater Advisory Committee.  Seven applicants will be chosen to serve on this newly created committee, the purpose of which is to assist in the review and implementation of the Town’s NPDES Phase II Stormwater Permit and the Stormwater Management Plan.

 

Committee members' duties will include:

  • Conducting, at a minimum, an annual review of the Stormwater Management Plan

  • Assisting town staff in selecting volunteer community involvement programs to pursue

  • Assisting town staff in the working with stakeholder groups to implement the objectives and activities of the Stormwater Management Program

  • Assisting town staff with public education and outreach activities that promote the Stormwater Management Program

  • Providing recommendations for internal program evaluation and reporting mechanisms

  • Assisting with other Stormwater related activities as needed

Regular meetings of the Committee will be held on the last Wednesday of January, April, July, and October at 8:00 a.m. at Town Hall.

 

Any adult who is a resident or does business in the Town of Leland and represents one or more of the following interests is eligible for membership: Landscape architecture consultants, environmental science consultants, environmental groups, watershed councils, neighborhood and community groups, engineering consultants, industrial facilities, large commercial/campus facilities, transportation interests, development interests, business or trade groups or other groups related to stormwater issues.
