Town Manager

The Town Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Town. The Manager is the Town’s Chief Administrator and head of Public Safety, responsible for the Town’s departments of Police, Fire, Public Services, Operation Services, Economic and Community Development, and Administration. The Town Manager is appointed by the Leland Town Council and is responsible for developing and executing the Town budget, overseeing the preparation of Town Council meeting agendas, and implementing the Council’s vision for the Town of Leland.

Assistant Town Manager

The Assistant Town Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the departments of Police, Fire and Administration. The Assistant Town Manager is appointed by the Town Manager and undertakes special projects that cross departmental lines as well as assists the Town Manager as necessary in implementing the goals of Town Council.

Administrative Manager Town Clerk

The Town Clerk's primary function is as keeper of official records. The Town Clerk attends and records Town Council and official committee actions, acts as custodian of all legal documents pertaining to the Town, prepares and publishes Town ordinances, resolutions and notices of public hearings, as required by law.  The Town Clerk also schedules persons to appear before Town Council and committees, applies codes, administers oaths of office, tracks and coordinates Town Council appointments to advisory boards, receives and processes applications for the Civil Service Commission and provides staff assistance to the board.

The Deputy Clerk's primary duties are to attend and record official actions and minutes from Town committee and board meetings. The Deputy Clerk acts as custodian of all legal documents pertaining to the Town, prepares and publishes Town ordinances, resolutions and notices of public hearings, as required by law.  The Assistant Clerk also schedules persons to appear before Town Council and committees, applies codes, administers oaths of office, tracks and coordinates Town Council appointments to advisory boards, receives and processes applications for the Civil Service Commission and provides staff assistance to the board.
