Art Studios

The Leland Cultural Arts Center offers several spaces for the creatively curious. Many of our rooms are multi-functional and perfect places to teach or take a class or workshop.

Pottery Open Studio 

Open Studio Options: 

  • Drop Offs:
    • Potters may work from home and pay by the piece to have work fired by filling out a Firing Form slip
    • All clay must be purchased from the LCAC to be fired
    • Monday/Tuesday drop offs only - call the front desk at 910-385-9891 for an appointment
    • All pots will be dropped off on the shelving unit in the pottery studio hallway, and can be picked up the following Monday/Tuesday on the same shelving unit.
  • Open Studio Pass
    • Open Studio time will be organized into morning and afternoon blocks, based on the class schedule. Open Studio times will still be posted at the LCAC and online. The studios will close between blocks and classes to allow LCAC staff to sanitize the spaces.
    • All potters wishing to purchase an Open Studio Pass will have the following options:
      • Monthly Pass - $50 for residents / $60 for nonresidents
      • Two-Week Pass - $25 for residents / $30 for nonresidents
      • Single Studio Block Pass: $10
    • To be eligible for an Open Studio Pass, potters must have taken a pottery class or held an Open Studio Pass at the LCAC within the past 2 years, or be able to pass a Community Pottery Studio Quiz
    • Potters must reserve Open Studio blocks in advance by calling the front desk at 910-385-9891 or stopping by the office.
    • Potters can sign up for Open Studio blocks up to two weeks in advance. As long as space allows, there will not be a limit on blocks. Each studio will allow 5 potters per block for social distancing purposes.
  • Class Pass
    • While taking an LCAC pottery class, potters have an active Class Pass and there is no additional fee for Open Studio blocks.
    • Potters must reserve Open Studio blocks in advance by calling the front desk at 910-385-9891 or stopping by the office.
    • Potters can sign up for Open Studio blocks up to two weeks in advance. As long as space allows, there will not be a limit on blocks. Each studio will allow 5 potters per block for social distancing purposes.

Studio Info

Studio 1 

Featuring a wide, spacious room with tons of natural lighting, our studio has 15 floor easels, a sink, and standard and youth size tables and chairs. In this room, instructors will conduct classes on many subjects, including (but not limited to) acrylic, oil, pencil, and other art materials at any given time.

Pottery Studio

This is a fully-functioning pottery studio with 3 Skutt km1027 kilns. We also have two industrial sinks, 8 Brent CXC wheels, a slab roller, an extruder, a spray booth with compressor and sprayer, and lots of smaller tools available for use. Generous work space is available for the novice or the advanced student, and we do have storage lockers for rent.

Dance Studio

Featuring a Marley sprung floor, full-length wall mirrors, and ballet barre, the dance studio hosts several classes in dance and yoga. Its wide, spacious interior allows for plenty of movement and has a full stereo system for any audio needs.

Classroom

Our media classroom is equipped with a state-of-the-art projector screen with a brand new projector, perfect for aiding in teaching with technical classes like digital photography and editing. It also has several standard and youth size table and chairs.

Studio 2

The LCAC has another spacious classroom for miscellaneous activities. Equipped with large work tables, natural lighting from several windows, ceiling mounted retractable power cords, and an ample amount of work space, this classroom is perfect for anything from jewelry making to watercolor classes! Multi-Purpose Room The multi-purpose room has a full projector screen, stage, and state-ofthe-art tech loft perfect for theatrical performances and classes for teaching acting. Spacious and fully equipped for any kind of acting fun, the multi-purpose room is great for artist’s talks as well as ballroom dancing classes!
