Leland Celebrates National Night Out
Join Leland Police Department, Leland Fire/Rescue and Town of Leland staff for our local National Night Out party, 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (Aug. 7) at Leland Municipal Park.
This free family-friendly event, aimed at boosting relationships between public safety and local residents, will include games and activities, including life-size Jenga and Connect Four, as well as Cornhole, Spikeball and Ladderball. Tasty Tee's Snack Shack food truck will be onsite and musical duo Entangled Dreams will perform. They'll even be a temporary "splash pad" set up for kids of all ages!
Kids and adults can also both enter the watermelon contest and win prizes. Piggly Wiggly in Leland has graciously supplied the watermelons for this competition and will be onsite slicing up the delicious summertime fruit.
Young "firefighters in training" can check out a Leland fire truck and test their skills with the water hose, and Fire/Rescue and Police will be on hand to chat with residents and answer any questions.
National Night Out, celebrated the first Tuesday of August, is an annual initiative that promotes police and community partnerships and focuses on engagement under positive circumstances. For more information, visit the National Night Out website.
