Town of Leland Board and Committee Openings
The Town of Leland is seeking candidates to serve on several boards and committees. See below for descriptions. Applications for these openings can be reviewed and completed at https://townofleland.civicweb.net/Portal/BoardApplication. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 24.
Economic Development Committee
Three members are needed for two-year terms – one from the greater Wilmington region and two who live or work in the Town of Leland. Terms end June 20223. The Leland Economic Development Committee was created to establish and oversee activities of the Town’s economic development program and assist the Town Council in implementing economic development initiatives in Leland. The committee consists of seven members and meets at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
Parks and Recreation Board
Four members are needed to serve three-year terms ending June 2024. All members must reside in the Town of Leland. The Leland Parks and Recreation Board advises and assists the Town Council in the development of parks and recreation plans and recreational activities. The board consists of seven members and meets every other month at 6 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month.
Four members are needed for three-year terms ending June 2024. All members must reside in the Town of Leland. The Leland Planning Board is charged with making planning and land use policy recommendations to the Town Council, including changes to the zoning map and code of ordinances. The board is advised by staff on the best practices for planning and zoning to reach adopted policy and plan goals. The planning board consists of seven members and meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
