Town of Leland Seeking to Fill Several Seats on Boards and Committees
The Town of Leland will have openings on the following Boards/Committees as of June 30, 2019. See below for descriptions of each. Applications will be accepted until May 24, 2019 and can be accessed at: https://townofleland.civicweb.net/Portal/CitizenEngagement.aspx
Economic Development Committee
Three members are needed for two-year terms – one from the greater Wilmington region and two who live or work in the Town of Leland. The Leland Economic Development Committee was created to establish and oversee activities of the Town’s economic development program and assist the Town Council in implementing economic development initiatives in Leland. The committee consists of seven members and meets at 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
Three members are needed for three-year terms. All members must reside in the Town of Leland. The Leland Planning Board is charged with making recommendations to the Town Council regarding the boundaries of various zoning districts and appropriate regulations to be enforced therein and any proposed amendments thereto. The board stays informed of best practices in effect for town planning and zoning. The board consists of seven members and meets at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Parks and Recreation Board
Two members are needed to complete unexpired terms - one ending June 30, 2020 and the other ending June 30, 2021. All members must reside in the Town of Leland. The Leland Parks and Recreation Board advises and assists the Town Council in the development of parks and recreation plans and recreational activities. The board consists of seven members and meets at 6 p.m. the last Wednesday of each month.
Two members are needed for two-year terms. All members must reside in the Town of Leland. The Leland Infrastructure Committee was created to function as a review and advisory committee with Leland staff to make recommendations to Town Council on amending the Town of Leland regulations governing maintenance, equipment, roadway conditions and improvements, and operation of Leland’s water, sewer and stormwater systems as they pertain to safety, efficiency and compliance with all state requirements. The committee consists of five members and meets at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every other month.
