Get Involved With Leland's New App, Boards, Committees and More This May!
We are excited to announce a new way for Leland citizens to be directly involved in caring for our Town! The Leland SeeClickFix mobile and web app allows you to send a photo, description, and location of a non-emergency issue you find within Town limits, such as potholes or graffiti, and track the progress as Leland Staff work to fix it! Download the app or report online: SeeClickFix.
As we prepare for a new fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018, new members to the Economic Development Committee, Planning Board, Parks and Recreation Board, Infrastructure Committee, and the Leland Tourism Development Authority are needed to replace expiring terms. Q: Do I need a fence around my child's small backyard pool?
A: It depends. “Screening,” which in our ordinance equates to a fence, is required for all above ground pools 24” or greater in depth. A screen canopy over or around the pool does not satisfy the ordinance. An actual fence is required. The ordinance was written because your safety, and the safety of your children is paramount to the Town of Leland.
Article VI, Section 30-212.e (3) Screening:
All above ground pools shall be completely screened on all sides. Such screening shall meet the following standards:
a. Screening shall be constructed of durable material, either wood, chain link, wrought iron, or other material designed for such purpose.
b. The exterior walls of a house or building may be incorporated as a portion of such screening to create a fully enclosed area around the above ground pool.
c. Screening shall have a height of not less than four feet from the outside approach and no opening greater than four inches.
d. All equipment included in the operation of the above ground pool shall be located within the screened area.
Have more questions about pool fencing? Click on the ordinance link above, or contact the Economic and Community Development Department via email at email@example.com, or call 910-971-3390.
