From egg hunts to concerts to the Black on Black Project, Leland will be in full swing! To kick off the month, hop your way to Leland Municipal Park for the adults-only Night Hunt, or bring your whole family to Northwest District Park for the community Egg Hunt. You'll need to have your dancing shoes ready by April 25 for our first concert of the spring, British Invaders, as well as your appetite for CheeseSmith Co. Food Truck.
April is a special month at the LCAC as we welcome the Black on Black project. The project creates space for the community to try to understand the voices of those who have not been heard. Throughout the month there will be community conversations and a screening of "Wilmington on Fire," as well as the display of beautiful, moving pieces in the art gallery. We would also like to thank the NC Arts Council for helping to support this project.
If you're looking to replenish your yard this spring, the Plant Giveaway will be held on April 27. The Town will provide a variety of plants ranging from flowers to vegetables and herbs. This event is always well attended, so be sure you arrive early to guarantee you get your pick of crop.
I'm also happy to announce progress has resumed on the Leland Town Center project. C&S Commercial Properties has broken ground on the Phase 1 outparcels with plans to have the first tenants opened by the beginning of 2020. With the strong tenant interest they have received in the current and future phases of the development, they see great potential for Leland Town Center and look forward to bringing new dining, shopping and service options to our residents - including that long-awaited Chick-Fil-A.
Won't you join me this month as we celebrate Leland in the spring!
