Leland to Host Town Hall-Style Meetings
A meeting to hear residents' concerns and questions regarding roadside litter, recycling, yard debris, and other issues is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, in Town Hall.

This informal public meeting will allow for dialogue between citizens, Council members and staff on those issues. Council members and staff plan to host these town hall-style meetings once per quarter, with a different focus at each meeting.

Council Approves Sturgeon Creek Park Plan
During its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 20, Leland Town Council approved a master plan for Sturgeon Creek Park. Situated along a tributary of the Brunswick River, the new park will allow access to natural areas and serve as a welcoming attraction in the center of town.

The master plan approved by council will help ensure that vision is carried out by guiding the development of Sturgeon Creek Park through research, site analysis, and input from residents, Navassa officials, staff, and other stakeholders.

Under the newly adopted plan, proposed features of the park would include the following:

  • N.C. Wildlife motorized boat ramp
  • Canoe/kayak launch
  • A nature center and outdoor education area
  • Boardwalks and walking trails
  • A playground and shelter
  • Marsh viewing areas and an observation tower
  • Fishing piers
