July Brings a Celebration of Independence, Lifetime of Discovery and Next-Level Service to the Leland Community
We are excited to honor the Leland Fire/Rescue Department, who recently achieved the 2018 Mission: Lifeline® EMS Gold Plus Level Recognition Award from the American Heart Association. They received this award for continually providing outstanding care to heart attack victims and saving precious response time minutes through their high level of skill, communication and care. I hope you join me in saying “Well done, Leland Fire/Rescue!”
Does your neighborhood have concerns about storm water? Town Council and I are holding a special meeting on Wednesday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. to listen to these concerns. Here are the details to make a presentation or attend. We look forward to hearing your concerns.
July is Park and Recreation Month! We are celebrating this year’s theme of A Lifetime of Discovery with special content on the Leland Parks & Recreation Facebook Page highlighting Leland’s unique and special parks, programs and facilities. We have so much to explore right here in our own backyard, ready to be discovered this July.
One of our award-winning programs is the Leland Cultural Arts Center Concert Series. This month’s feature performance is dedicated to one of the longest running and most successful pop-rock groups in history with Chicago Rewired. Escape the heat with an evening in Chicago at the LCAC.
On behalf of Leland Town Council and the Town of Leland staff, I want to wish all of our residents and visitors a safe and happy 4th of July!

Q: Do I need a permit to have a yard sale at my home?
A: If you are having a yard/garage sale on property you own, no permit is needed for a single sale of 1-2 days in any 30 day period. If you are having a yard sale on someone else’s property (in front of a store, at the neighborhood park, etc.), you should submit a Yard Sale Application at least two weeks before the sale. This application is free and includes helpful guidelines. If you are holding the the sale in an area under the jurisdiction of an Home Owners Association, whether you own the property or not, contact the HOA regarding rules and regulations governing yard/garage sales. Have a traffic plan in place to avoid impeding street traffic flow or blocking driveways, and consider safe pedestrian access and parking. Lastly, it is advised that you have trash receptacles available during the sale and clean up thoroughly afterwards to keep trash and debris out of storm drains.
