Highway 17 Forcemain/Lift Station #10 Upgrade Project
A project to help serve the developing areas along the Highway 17 Corridor with sewer by running 10” and 16” force mains, and to increase the available storage capacity for Lift Station #10 to 3,830 cubic feet, thus providing an additional safety factor to the operational integrity of the system, as well as the ability to better manage peak flows which are expected to result from planned growth in the service area.

Contractor has completed all required NCDOT punch list items. Town is waiting on the final application of payment and the project will be offically closed out.
The contractor and NCDOT continue to work through right of way repairs related to an encroachment agreement for the project. The contractor estimates completion of the NCDOT punch list by March 6, 2020.
On January 28, 2020, NCDOT marked fencing replacement areas, and will pursue resolution of damaged and dead trees within the project limits. Staff has also requested an onsite meeting with NCDOT and the contractor to accelerate the completion of the remaining items.
The project engineer submitted a change order request on January 9, 2020 that is currently under review. The contractor met with NCDOT on January 10, 2020 to review the remaining punch list items. Bi-weekly mandatory meetings are being scheduled to increase compliance for contract closeout by January 31, 2020.
Staff has requested a meeting this week with NCDOT to verify completion of the right of way punch list items in order to meet the final closeout date of December 31, 2019.
Review of the final payment application and closeout documents is underway.
