The Town of Leland is seeking community-minded residents to serve on the Board of Adjustment, an important board that holds quasi-judicial public hearings to consider requests for variances in land use regulations where special conditions would create unnecessary hardships. The Board of Adjustment also hears appeals of determinations made by staff in interpreting and enforcing land use regulations. It consists of five members and two alternates. Members serve three-year terms and meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.
This is a great opportunity to get involved in local government and make a meaningful impact. The deadline to apply is Friday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. To apply, please complete this form.
Town Council will review eligible applications, conduct interviews, and vote to appoint two new members, one full member and one alternate member, with terms ending June 30, 2026. These appointments will fill the remainder of existing three-year terms. Newly appointed members will begin their service at the start of 2026. After the vacancies are filled, staff will meet with Board members to determine their interest in serving a full term.
