Stormwater Management

Engineering staff administer the Town of Leland’s Stormwater Management Program.

Stormwater management is a state and federally mandated program requiring the Town to reduce pollution in Leland’s waterways. This is accomplished through a variety of focus areas: public education, public involvement, illicit discharge detection and prevention, construction site runoff, post construction best management practices, and pollution prevention.

In Leland, runoff flows through a complex, interconnected system of pipes, ditches, creeks, and other natural and man-made features before finally making its way to the Cape Fear River and Brunswick River. The quality of our local waters is directly related to land uses and other actions on land.

It is everyone’s responsibility to keep our water clean! If you see a stormwater problem, please call the Stormwater Hotline at (910) 408-3052!
