Mayor Brenda Bozeman announced Debra Pickett as Citizen of the Year 2023 at the Dec. 14 Town Council Meeting. Pickett was chosen for voluntarily serving her community in varying capacities.
Pickett actively serves many regional organizations and participates in service project events. She is an active board member of the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and was named the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 2022 and 2023 for her commitment to the chamber and the community.
Pickett is currently serving a two-year term as President of the Leland Chapter of Women in Networking. Earlier this year, she founded the Secret Society of Women. Both of these organizations empower female professionals by providing opportunities for growth and prosperity.
Pickett served as President of the North Brunswick Kiwanis Club in 2022. She shifted her club engagement to the Leland Area Rotary Club and is currently the 2023-2024 President Elect. Both of these clubs create lasting change in the world and their communities.
