The Town of Leland is celebrating the Grand Opening of the newly renovated Founders Park with an evening of family-friendly activities, live music, food, and more. As the first event in the park’s new chapter, the celebration gives residents and visitors the opportunity to experience its new amenities. In partnership with WECT, the Town is also bringing the Sounds of Summer concert across the bridge to help mark the occasion.
When is the Founders Park Grand Opening?
The Founders Park Grand Opening is Friday, July 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Founders Park, located at 113 Town Hall Drive.
Who is performing?
The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will perform from 6 to 8 p.m.
What is the event schedule?
Beginning at 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy a variety of free activities throughout Founders Park, including:
- Mini golf
- Foam axe throwing
- Basketball
- Community organization booths
At 5:30 p.m., the official ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin, featuring Mayor Brenda Bozeman, the Town Council, and other community stakeholders, followed by a color guard presentation.
At 6 p.m., The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will take the stage and perform until 8 p.m.
Do I need tickets?
No. The event is free and open to the public.
Will food and drinks be available?
Yes. Food will be available for purchase from:
- Glizzies on the Go
- Hanna's Hawaiian Ice
- Taste N Seize
- Seaview Crab Company
- Old South Pretzel Company
Adults ages 21 and older may purchase beer and cider in the park's first beer garden, featuring Leland Brewing Company and Brunswick Beer and Cider.
Outside alcohol is not permitted.
Where can I park?
Limited parking is available at Founders Park.
Overflow parking is available at:
- First Baptist Church, 517 Village Road
Woodburn Presbyterian Church, 509 Village Road
- North Brunswick High School, 114 Scorpion Drive
Multi-use paths provide direct access from both overflow parking areas to Founders Park. An accessible shuttle will also run between North Brunswick High School and Founders Park from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Please note this is the only location for shuttle pickup.
Where is accessible parking?
Accessible parking is available at Town Hall and within Founders Park. The shuttle running between North Brunswick High School and the park is also accessible.
Will any roads be closed?
Yes. A portion of Town Hall Drive between the Founders Park entrance and Old Fayetteville Road will be closed from noon until 9 p.m.

Will the splash pad and playground be open?
Yes. Both amenities will be open during the event.
Is there a rain date?
Inclement weather may postpone the Grand Opening until August 13. Any schedule changes will be announced on the Town's social media channels on the day of the event.

Attendees can bring:
- Folding chairs or picnic blankets
- Sunscreen
- Cooler
- Water
