Town of Leland Issues Burn Ban

Town of Leland Issues Burn Ban

A burn ban has been issued by the Town of Leland and Brunswick County effective Saturday, May 3 at 5 p.m. until further notice.

The ban prohibits all burning within 100 feet of an occupied structure within Town limits. Due to Brunswick County’s burn ban, the same restrictions apply to unincorporated areas of the county within the Leland Fire District.

This precaution is necessary as Leland is currently experiencing moderate drought conditions, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor for North Carolina, and due to the impacts of a wildfire affecting Boiling Spring Lakes and surrounding areas.

The burn ban will remain in effect until conditions improve. The Town of Leland will announce any updates, including when the burn ban is lifted, through its website and social media channels.

For questions about the burn ban, please contact the Leland Fire/Rescue Department at (910) 371-2727.
