Town of Leland Receives Grant for Police Body Armor

The Town of Leland is proud to announce it has received a grant through the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM) Body Armor Grant Program to help offset the cost of protective body armor for police officers.

Through this program, the Town was reimbursed $2,500 for the purchase of five Hi-Lite Performance vests from Point Blank. This grant demonstrates the Town’s commitment to both public safety and financial responsibility by securing external funding to support essential protective equipment for its officers.

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be part of the NCLM Workers’ Compensation Trust. The Trust helps participating local governments reduce costs and improve safety over time.

Through the grant program, law enforcement agencies can receive partial reimbursement for five vests, up to $500 per vest. This initiative supports NCLM’s ongoing commitment to reducing risk for personnel and limiting liability for municipalities.
