Leland Adopts First Integrated Mobility Plan to Guide Future Transportation

Integrated mobility plan cover

Leland Town Council has officially adopted the Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP), the Town’s first long-range, comprehensive transportation plan. The IMP outlines projects to guide the Town over the next 25 years, with a focus on expanding connectivity, enhancing open space, improving roadway infrastructure, and preserving natural areas.

Projects outlined in the IMP were selected through a comprehensive evaluation of existing initiatives in Town guiding documents and regional plans, combined with community input gathered from a focus group, two public open house events, an online survey, and an interactive comment map.

The IMP includes 150 projects, with 85 identified as high priority. Many of these focus on improvements in the Gateway District. Projects were ranked based on key criteria, including potential impact and alignment with community goals.

“This is an important step forward for the Town,” said Mayor Brenda Bozeman. “Reevaluating the projects every five years will ensure Leland remains proactive in seeking grant funding and planning for the needs of our residents.”

The IMP serves as a strategic roadmap to ensure Leland continues to be a safe, accessible, and inclusive community for all ages.
