Town of Leland to Celebrate Reopening of Founders Park During Grand Illumination

The Town of Leland is pleased to announce that Founders Park, located at 113 Town Hall Drive, will reopen at the Grand Illumination of Leland in Lights on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. All areas of the park will reopen except the amphitheater, which remains under construction and is expected to be completed in late spring 2026.

Grand Illumination attendees will be among the first to experience the improvements, visiting Santa under the new picnic shelter, strolling among dazzling light displays along the multi-use path, and enjoying the updated playground. The Town intends to illuminate Founders Park at the largest scale possible for Leland in Lights, which runs through Jan. 4.

Founders Park represents the Town’s largest park investment to date, adding amenities such as an amphitheater, splash pad, veterans memorial, natural play area, fitness stations, walking trails, a picnic and restroom facility, and open space.

In the meantime, work is ongoing in the park, including tree removal, cleanup, construction, and other preparation activities, so the park should not be entered until it opens to the public. A grand opening for Founders Park will be planned once all portions of the park are complete to celebrate the fully finished project. Additional updates will be shared as work progresses.
