Through Lowe’s Community Impact Grants, Lowe's partner with nonprofits and community organizations to help bring these projects to life. Together with associates, customers and partners, Lowe's is helping turn community bucket list ideas into real improvements — delivering thousands of community impact projects nationwide. These efforts reflect the belief that strong communities don’t just happen – they’re built.
The Town proposes to construct a small picnic shelter adjacent to the playground area in Founders Park. This shelter will provide park visitors with a shaded, protected space to sit, eat, and rest while supervising children and enjoying the park.
The Duke Energy Foundation supports stronger, more vibrant communities through strategic grant funding. Through initiatives like the Community Resilience Grant, the Foundation invests in projects that expand and improve North Carolina’s natural spaces, enhance public access to outdoor recreation, and protect environmental resources. These efforts support habitat restoration, clean water protection, biodiversity initiatives, and programs that encourage community members to connect with and learn about the natural environment.
The Leland Town Center Tree Planting project will enhance the visual character and environmental quality of the Gateway Boulevard corridor through the installation of new street and landscape trees. The project focuses on planting appropriate, climate-resilient tree species along public rights-of-way and available planting areas to increase canopy coverage, improve shade, and contribute to stormwater management and urban heat reduction.
The State of North Carolina and North Carolina Amateur Sports have established an annual youth sports grant fund from a percentage of the sports wagering tax revenues. Youth sports grants are provided annually to local government agencies, including local school administrative units and 501(c)(3) nonprofits in all 100 North Carolina counties. These grants may be used for youth sports equipment, or facility upgrades and improvements that primarily benefit youth sports. If awarded, the Town of Leland will use funds for facility upgrades.
The Leland Police Department have submitted an application to equip two (2) existing police SUVs with Mini Mobile Command Stations. These units will support incident command operations during a wide range of events, from natural disasters to routine calls for service such as missing persons cases. The Mini Mobile Command Stations will enable officers to establish an on-scene command presence immediately upon arrival, improving coordination, resource deployment, and overall response efficiency. This capability will enhance situational control and ensure more timely, effective outcomes during critical incidents.

The Town of Leland has applied to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees within the Leland Town Center commercial area. This project will provide a shaded, inviting path for pedestrians and cyclists.
