Leland to Celebrate Founders Park Grand Opening with Sounds of Summer Concert

The Town of Leland is excited to announce the highly anticipated Grand Opening of Founders Park on Friday, July 31, from 5 to 8 p.m., at 113 Town Hall Drive. Celebrate the opening of the Town’s newest community gathering space with live music, family activities, food, and beverages.

The celebration, presented in partnership with WECT, will serve as the newest stop for the Sounds of Summer concert series. The event will include The Embers featuring Craig Woolard from 6 to 8 p.m. in the park’s newly completed amphitheater. Known for helping define the Carolina beach music sound, The Embers have been creating "music with a memory" for generations and remain one of the region's most beloved live acts.

“Founders Park was designed to be a place where our community can come together to make memories, celebrate special moments, and enjoy everything that makes Leland unique,” said Mayor Brenda Bozeman. “We are excited to officially open this space, and we invite residents and visitors to come to this event and experience all it has to offer.”

Beginning at 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities, including games behind the amphitheater, a trail of community organizations, the new splash pad, and the updated playground. At 5:30 p.m., join Mayor Brenda Bozeman in front of the amphitheater for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of Founders Park and the summer season, followed by The Embers performance.

Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair for the concert. Food trucks will be on site throughout the event, along with the park’s first beer garden featuring Leland Brewing and Brunswick Beer and Cider for patrons 21 and older. Outside alcohol is prohibited.

Limited parking will be available at Founders Park, with overflow parking at First Baptist Church, located at 517 Village Road. Multi-use paths provide direct access from these parking areas to Founders Park.
