Town of Leland Launches Citizens Academy

Leland Citizens Academy

The Town of Leland is accepting applications for the first-ever Leland Citizens Academy, a free six-week program designed to give residents an inside look at local government operations, services, and day-to-day work.

The academy is open to people who live within Town limits or own a business within Town limits. Applications can be submitted online through Nov. 30. Selected applicants will be notified by email Dec. 21.

The academy will include weekly sessions led by Town staff every Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m. from Jan. 6 through Feb. 10 at various Town facilities. Each cohort will be limited to 20 participants. Those who complete all six sessions will be recognized at a graduation ceremony on Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. during the Regular Town Council Meeting at Town Hall, located at 102 Town Hall Drive.

“We have seen great engagement with our Let’s Talk Leland series, and we’re excited to build on that through the Leland Citizens Academy,” said Mayor Brenda Bozeman. “This will give residents an even closer look at how local government works and the services Town staff provide each day.”

The academy will continue to be scheduled for the summer and winter. New dates or changes will be announced in advance on the Town website and social media channels as the start date approaches.
