The Support Services Division is primarily responsible for the inner workings of the Police Department. It oversees Records Management, Property & Evidence, Community Engagement, and Animal Services. Support Services is currently comprised of a lieutenant, a sergeant, three civilian records technicians, a sworn animal services officer, two community engagement officers, and a civilian evidence technician.
The Support Services Division oversees the department’s Community Engagement Team which serves as a vital link between the Police Department and the community by fostering positive relationships with residents, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and visitors. These officers coordinate and participate in community outreach initiatives, crime prevention programs, public safety education efforts, special events, and department-sponsored activities throughout the Town. Through proactive engagement and partnership-building, Community Engagement Officers help enhance public trust, promote transparency, and strengthen the department’s commitment to community-oriented policing. If you'd like to reach out to the Community Engagement team, please email them at Lelandpolicecet@townofleland.com.
Officers and civilian staff in the Support Services Division also maintain and manage all internal and external officer training, and NC Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) needs.
