Leland in Lights

Leland in LightsLeland in Lights is a 6-week festive event taking place in Leland, North Carolina at Founders Park. Starting December 3rd you can stop by Founders Park anytime after dusk to experience Leland's very own wonderland. Take a stroll through candy cane trees and picnic under the twinkling lights.
The last day to immerse yourself in the lights will be January 3rd!

Grand Illumination on December 3rd will kick off the beginning of Leland in Lights. At 6 PM Mayor Bozeman will flip the switch transforming Founders Park into a wonderland! You can meet Santa, ride the Leland Express, and eat at local food trucks. Dixieland Kettle Corn Company, and Brown Dog Coffee will be serving during the event.

Holiday Art Market

Don't miss this popular one-day holiday event at the Leland Cultural Arts Center! Stop by on December 3rd from 10 AM - 3 PM. The Holiday Art Market features unique handmade gifts that are sure to please everyone on the shopping list. This is a FREE event to attend. 

Leland Express

Choo Choo! The Leland Express will be arriving on December 3rd and making frequent stops until December 17th! On December 3, 9, 16, and 17th the Leland Express will be running from 6 - 8 PM. On December 10th the Express will run following the Movie in the Park: The Polar Express. It is FREE to ride!

The Polar Express

Enjoy a family movie under the lights! On December 10th at 6 PM watch the Polar Express. Wear your PJs and enjoy food from The First Bite Food truck. They will be serving your favorite breakfast foods. Bring blankets or chairs but please, no pets or alcohol.

It is time to pull that ugly sweater out of storage! The Leland Cultural Arts Center is hosting its very first Ugly Sweater Party. On December 9th from 7 - 9 PM join other ugly sweater enthusiasts for a night of festivities at the LCAC (1212 Magnolia Village Way). Enjoy local wine and live music from Holy Heat. This is a ticketed event and registration is required. Tickets are $15.

When is Leland In Lights?

Leland in Lights is happening every evening, weather permitting, from December 3rd through January 3rd in Founders Park, located at 113 Town Hall Drive.

Do I need tickets?

You do not need tickets. Leland in Lights is a self-guided walking tour through Founders Park. 

What time do the lights turn on?

Founders Park is illuminated at dusk every evening. 

Will the lights be running if it is raining?

Significant rainfall may cause the lights to shut down for the evening to ensure visitor safety. 

When will the Leland Express train be running?

The Leland Express trackless train will be available to take participants through the magic of Leland in Lights from 6 - 8 PM on December 3, 9, 16, and 17th. On December 17th the Leland Express will be running following the showing of The Polar Express in the park. 

Are dogs allowed?

Leashed dogs are allowed in Founders Park.

Will Santa be at Leland in Lights?

Santa's Workshop will be open on December 3rd for the Grand Illumination and on December 10th before the Movie in the Park: The Polar Express.

 

Are the trolleys wheelchair accessible?

No, the trolleys are not wheelchair accessible. There is accessible parking on site in the Town Hall parking lot.
