Trash & Recycling Collection


Trash service is provided by Brunswick County, which contracts with GFL Environmental, Inc. for county-wide collection. Trash is picked up every Friday in Leland.


The Town of Leland's current contract with GFL for curbside recycling is set to expire June 30, 2021. After this date, residents will have options for ways to continue recycling, including twice-monthly curbside recycling provided by GFL as a fee-based service or the Brunswick County free recycling drop-off locations currently available in and around Leland.

Residents who would like to continue curbside recycling after June 30 can sign up for annual service directly through GFL at After signing up, GFL will provide twice-monthly fee-based recycling pick-up beginning Friday, July 2. 

The deadline to register for continuation of curbside recycling service was April 23. Beginning with the first Friday in June, GFL will begin removing recycling bins for residents who choose to not continue the curbside service. For questions, please contact GFL at (910) 253-4177.

Update:  Beginning July 1, 2021, the Town of Leland is happy to announce that a new option for residential recycling will be available with the opening of a Residential Recycling self-service drop-off location located at 114 Perry Avenue, adjacent to Town Hall and Founders Park.  Please refer to the Residential Recycling Center FAQs and Town of Leland Recycling Guide (links below) for more information.



Debris Drop-Off 

Update:  Beginning July 14, 2021, the Town will offer a new option for residential vegetative debris disposal.  The new Town of Leland Residential Vegetative Debris Drop-Off Center will be opening at the Town's Municipal Operations Center, at 1987 Andrew Jackson Hwy NE, Leland, NC .  More information, including hours of operation, cost, and types of accepted debris, can be found in the Vegetative Debris Drop-Off Center FAQs  (link below).  Please note, debris vouchers will be available for purchase beginning July 1, 2021.

Brunswick County Solid Waste & Recycling

Brunswick County Recycling programs accept a variety of items, including roof shingles, cooking oil, electronics and more.

Brunswick County hosts a free dump week each April and September. For more information about these programs and events see the Brunswick County Website.
