Construction to Begin on Ocean Gate Plaza Intersection Improvements

Ocean Gate Plaza Intersection Improvements

The Town of Leland will begin construction on Jan. 27 on intersection improvements at Ocean Gate Plaza and New Pointe Boulevard aimed at improving safety and connectivity within the commercial area.

Ocean Gate Plaza Closure MapAs part of the project, Ocean Gate Plaza will be closed from U.S. Highway 17 to the roundabout for approximately four months, including the turn lanes on the highway. Barricades and detour signs will be in place, and drivers should plan alternate routes and expect minor delays. Access to surrounding businesses will remain open throughout the project.

The project includes construction of a teardrop roundabout, new sidewalks, pedestrian crosswalks, updated pavement markings, and street signage. These improvements are designed to enhance safety and efficiency for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists traveling through the Westgate area.

“These improvements are an important investment for our growing community,” said Mayor Brenda Bozeman. “By enhancing safety and connectivity in this area, we are creating a more welcoming and accessible environment for residents, visitors, and local businesses.”

This project builds on previous improvements at Ocean Gate Plaza and Gateway Boulevard and supports the Town’s ongoing commitment to safe, high-quality transportation infrastructure outlined in the Town of Leland 2030 Strategic Plan.
