The Town of Leland has been awarded funding through the North Carolina Resilient Coastal Communities Program (RCCP) to survey and design a grading plan to improve the frequent flooding of Mallory Creek Drive.

Construction Continues
Friday, April 12, 2024

Construction continues on the northside of Mallory Creek Drive from Pine Cone Drive to Blue Spruce Drive.  Construction is expected to take 2-3 weeks to complete the drainage improvements. Residents should expect delays and use caution when driving in the area.

Construction to Begin

Construction is scheduled to begin the week of April 8, 2024.  The contractor will be starting on the Pines side of Mallory Creek Drive from Pine Cone Drive to Blue Spruce Drive.  Construction is expected to take 2-3 weeks to complete the work. Residents should expect delays and use caution when driving in the area.

The Town received bids and awarded the project to Rivenbark Contracting, LLC to complete the construction of the roadside ditches.  Construction work is expected to take place in April 2024.

The Town will be advertising and bidding the project to construct new flowing roadside ditches along Mallory Creek Drive. Construction is expected Spring 2024.

RCCP Phase 4 Grant Funding

Unfortunately, the Town of Leland was not selected for the Phase 4 Grant Funding through the North Carolina Resilient Coastal Communities Program.  The Town will look into using budgeted operational funds to complete the drianage improvements along Mallory Creek Drive.

The Town hopes to apply for RCCP Phase 4 funding to construct the roadside swales, which is anticipated to be released in April/May 2023.
