A project to improve the intersection at Ocean Gate Plaza and New Pointe Boulevard. The scope of the project includes installation of a single-lane teardrop roundabout, stormwater improvements, new sidewalks, pedestrian crosswalks, pavement markings, and street signs. The project will improve the busy commercial intersection, improve safety for motorists and pedestrians alike, and improve pedestrian connectivity and the flow of traffic.

Survey crews from Coastal Geomatics will be on site May 13-14, 2026 to survey and stake the locations for the new streetlights along Ocean Gate Plaza to West Gate Drive.
The contractor has completed the construction of the single-lane teardrop roundabout at Ocean Gate Plaza and New Pointe Boulevard and the intersection is open to traffic. Town staff is working with the contractor on final worklist items and will be installing streetlights along Ocean Gate Plaza.
Town staff conducted the final walk-through of the project with the engineer and contractor. Final adjustments and punch list items are expected to be complete the week of May 11th.
Pavement markings will be installed for the roundabout on May 4-5, 2026. Pavement markings include hi-visibility crosswalk markings, arrows, yield triangles, ONLY symbol, lane lines and mini skips.
Street signs will be installed for the roundabout on April 29-30, 2026. Signs include new yield and yield ahead signs, pedestrian crosswalk signs, roundabout signs and chevrons for the teardrop.
The contractor is installing the final surface layer of asphalt. Next steps are to install the signage for the roundabout, pavement markings, general clean up, and landscaping.

The contractor will be installing the intermediate layer of asphalt tomorrow, April 14, 2026.
H2GO will be shutting down a section of water mainline at the intersection of Ocean Gate Plaza and New Point Boulevard for the contractor to relocate utilities for the Town’s Ocean Gate Plaza Roundabout project. The shutdown will start at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, and will be turned back on at 4 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
Construction crews have begun work on the full rebuild of the roadway. Next steps are to compact and install ABC Stone.
