The Town will host an Open Burning Workshop on Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. at the Leland Cultural Arts Center, located at 1212 Magnolia Village Way. The workshop, which will be held as a Special Council Meeting, will focus on education of state regulations for open burning and how they apply within the Town limits. The Council hopes to involve other regional partners in this process.
Town staff, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Air Quality, and the North Carolina Forest Service will give brief presentations on current regulations, enforcement, and applicability in Leland. A public comment period will follow, giving attendees the opportunity to provide insights directed to Town Council and agency representatives. Town Council will then discuss the information presented, stakeholder input, and the Town’s policies, practices, and ordinances.
