Founders Park (formerly Leland Municipal Park) serves as the flagship facility for a myriad of events and programs throughout the year. Town Council adopted the master plan at its March 2020 regular meeting. The Town is now moving forward with engineering and design, which includes amenities such as an amphitheater, splash pad, veterans memorial, updated playground, and walking trails.

Project Updates
Design for the project has received TRC approval and the project will be advertised for bid starting July 10, 2023.
Design for both the overall site and vertical structures have been completed and are currently in review with Town of Leland Planning Department. After approval, the Town will work towards advertising project for bid.
The Town has received another round of design drawings for both the site and vertical structures. We are hoping to have final 100% plans approved by June with advertisement following soon after.
Building plans have submitted for preliminary review and first round comments are being addressed. After adjustments are made, plans are will be resubmitted for final approval. This is expected by March 2023.
Design is still nearing completion, however has been delayed slightly with some minor changes that are being made to the parking lot and lighting plans. It is now expected that design will be completed by March, with bid advertisement following quickly afterward.
Site and architectural design is nearing completion with final plans expected in October. With this timeline we are expecting the project to be put out for bid in November.
Preliminary design for both the site and vertical structures are nearing completion, expected to be at a 90% level by June 30th.
Architectural design of park structures including the amphitheater, restroom facility, and picnic shelter has begun. Design is expected to be completed by September.
Design of the Site Plan, including enhanced stormwater features, is nearing completion. After design is completed, we will begin submitting for the appropriate permits needed for construction.
The Town continues to work through site design of the park and will soon be shifting focus to architectural design of park structures including the amphitheater, splashpad, playground, and restroom facilities.
