Leland Publishes Annual Revenue Manual to Promote Transparency

Revenue Manual

The Town of Leland encourages residents to check out the updated Revenue Manual for fiscal year 2025-2026. The manual outlines all budgeted revenue sources, such as local taxes and fees, as well as state-shared and other local revenues.

The manual is a comprehensive tool for defining, assessing, and evaluating the Town’s fiscal capacity and health. Revenues are categorized by those that go to the general fund, which supports day-to-day operations, and the restricted fund, which may only be used for designated purposes. Restricted funds that the Town receives include building inspections, grants, the municipal vehicle tax, and Powell Bill revenue.

Notably, the manual projects an increase in sales tax revenue for the upcoming year, which may indicate growth, economic prosperity, and increased tourism.

With this manual, the Town reaffirms its commitment to accountability by giving residents a clear, accessible view of the financial revenue sources budgeted for this fiscal year. This effort directly supports the transparency goals outlined in the 2030 Strategic Plan.
