A project to develop a roadside multi-use path along the north side of Old Fayetteville Road from Town Hall Drive to North Brunswick High School.  Project also includes the repaving of Old Fayetteville Road.  Work will require brief lane closures with flagging for duration.

Multi-Use Path Wins NCDOT Mobi Award

The Town of Leland is proud to announce the Old Fayetteville Road Multi-Use Path and Resurfacing project has won a 2022 N.C. Department of Transportation Mobi Award.

The Old Fayetteville Road Multi-Use Path was one of 12 finalists and named the winner on May 4. The project won in the small urban category, which recognizes small-to-medium communities or counties with population between 10,000 and 50,000.

The U-5534 D Old Fayetteville Road Multi-Use Path and Resurfacing project named one of 12 finalist for the 2022 NCDOT Mobi Awards Finalist.  The intent of NCDOT’s Mobi Awards is to recognize completed multimodal projects throughout North Carolina that contribute to creating safe, connected, and livable communities.  This year’s winner and honorable mentions will be recognized on May 4, 2022.

NCDOT Mobi Awards

The U-5534 D Old Fayetteville Road Multi-Use Path and Resurfacing project has been nominated for the 2022 NCDOT Mobi Awards.  The intent of NCDOT’s Mobi Awards is to recognize completed multimodal projects throughout North Carolina that contribute to creating safe, connected, and livable communities.  Judges will select finalists for five categories that are Rural, Small Urban, Urban, Large Urban, and Innovation.  A sixth category, Most Voted Project, will be determined by votes from the public.  Individuals are eligible to vote up to three times daily for their favorite project(s).  Voting is open through February 25, 2022.

Finalists in each of the six categories will be notified in March and winners announced on May 4, 2022.

 

Construction is Complete
Friday, December 3, 2021

Construction is complete on the Old Fayetteville Road Improvements and Multi-Use Path.  Town Staff is working with NCDOT to close out the project.

Final Walk Through Completed
Thursday, November 4, 2021

Town Staff and NCDOT conducted the Final Walk Through of the project with the Engineer and contractor.  Final punch list items are being worked on and expected to be completed in the coming weeks.  Town Staff will continue to monitor the area and will work with NCDOT to close out the project.

Thank you to all who joined the Town in the opening of the multi-use path. Big thanks to NCDOT and the WMPO for their collaboration with this project. The Town is excited to have this contribution to the community.
